A few photos of red kites taken in Scotland recently.
These are taken handheld with a Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD fitted to a Nikon d7100.
It’s my first real attempt at long lens photography but I’m pretty pleased with the results.
The lens is a fairly manageable weight at 1900g and sits nicely on a DSLR.
Combined with a crop sensor (dx) camera the effective focal length increases from 150-600 to 225-900mm.
Autofocus appears fast and accurate throughout the focal range.
