I found this little fox vixen cub while out walking the other day on an old quarry site. We initially both startled each other as it sunned itself then ran off into the undergrowth. I backed away a bit and sat down, expecting the inquisitiveness of the young cub to get the better of it and sure enough, within a minute I could here the rustle in the bushes and a small orange head appear. I sat my ground as the cub gradually came out and then proceeded to sit opposite me for about 30 minutes, quite unworried about my presence.
I’d thought that maybe there were foxes on this site but I’d never imagined such a close encounter.
I’m hoping this is a site that I can photograph more fully over time.
