Greater Spotted Woodpeckers in Forest Ganol

Apart from the Hawfinches, Forest Ganol is also a great place to see Greater Spotted Woodpeckers.

The great spotted woodpecker is a medium-sized woodpecker with pied black and white plumage and a red patch on the lower belly. Males have a red nape at the rear of their head while the juveniles have a red cap under the first time they moult.

Here, the adult male can be seen feeding the young bird.
